We are people who have mothers, are married to mothers, or care about issues that impact mothers.
One evening after attending and observing a meeting about the turbines, four of us came back to my house feeling sad, disappointed, and being honest, a little bit scared. Four women from different ethnicities, different cultures, different religions, and different political leanings,
We talked for three hours trying to figure out what to do. How we can unite our community around this? How can we do so without fighting, without arguing, and without antagonizing or judging the motives of each other? How can we help our community put the principle of safety and the health of our children ahead of personality and politics?
One woman, said “Mothers”. Another immediately nodded, then another. Soon we had a plan of action and part of that plan was to create a facebook group and a website. The next day we did so and then the work began.
We’ve done our research and in the spirit of MADD, INM, GAB, and other Mother/Grandmother founded movements, we’re here.
We’re here to educate, we’re here to advocate, we’re here to ensure that industrial turbine corporations do not prey on the residents of rural Hawaii as they have on so many other poor rural towns across the US and across the world.

Hello Koolau Moms,
My classmate, Arielle Kramer, and I are preparing a report for our Environmental Law class at the Williams S. Richardson School of Law regarding the Na Pua Makani Wind Project. We are very interested in your opinion on this topic. Is there someone from your organization that we could speak to on the phone for 15 to 20 minutes to get additional information on your perspective?
